Which mail forwarder in South Dakota should I choose?

I am thinking of switching my driver's license to South Dakota. What is the least expensive mail forwarder? Or which do I use? There are many to choose from. I only plan to have three or four pieces of mail per year forwarded, so I am low volume (Motor Vehicle stuff and insurance only); the rest of my mail goes to relatives or my preferred private mail box pout of state. (When I contacted SD MV, they said you have to have a mail forwarder *in* SD to get a DL there, not a mail forwarder or relative out of state.)

Thanks!
  • Escapees of course operates a SD service, and I have seen a few others mentioned in Youtube videos, but I dont remember the names, you could peruse there and find them I'm sure.
  • We are very happy with Americas Mailbox in South Dakota. We also continue to use Escapees in Texas where we have a lot of family, but had no luck trying to convert Escapees to South Dakota.

    YMMV

Do a Google search as I think there is around six of them now.
2 in Sioux FAlls, 1 In Rapid City, 1 in Emory, 1 in Madison, 1 in Chamberlin and a new one in Hill City.
I think I have seen ads for 12 dollars a month.
I use Dakota Post in Sioux FAlls.

If it were me I would call starting with the one in Emory SD

I use My Home Address Emery SD and am very happy after 7 years. I have my mail (4 or 10 pieces) sent once a month. Almost everything is online. Not that anyone (IRS) would ever check but the use of a relative in a different state may be a tax problem.

Your DOMICILE is where you plan to live permanently. Think about a college student RESIDING in a different state.

Why pay for 2 private mail boxes?
  • this is the one I use and i am pleased with their service...

  • x-2 on the mydakota address. Been using them for 8yrs never had one problem. Terri is the best.
  • Pennington County still does not have a wheel tax if you plan to register your vehicles there. For that reason I use America's Mailbox.
  • X2 on My Home Address in Emery. We've used them for over 10 years and have always been happy. We also get very little mail, maybe 3 to 4 times a year it gets forwarded. They have always been helpful and friendly. I think they are very reasonable, $135/year plus postage. $10 to register your vehicles. Tell them I referred you, Jan Wooley
