I've seen them bent and ripped off after a storm. I suspect more from loose screws than anything else. That and 'gusts' of wind.
How often do any of us go up there regularly and tighten down those antenna bolts? :B
A storm with any type of wind warnings everything gets rolled up, cranked down and put away.
I'm curious about those antenna bolts, how do you get to them? That circular plate is in the way.
Thanks
Ron W. - hyattjlbbExplorerCrank it down, if nothing else I figure I don't need an even taller lightning rod.

i am supposed to get thunderstorms with up to 60 mph winds later today.
do i need to crank down a wineguard with batwing?thanks for your help.
I certainly would. But, I'm known for being cautious.
Besides, mine moves around in the wind and with modern digital signals it looses the TV channel on windy days anyway. - Ron3rdExplorer III

Yes, crank it down.
It's only held in place with a few little #8 or #10 wood screws that are about an inch long and generally just go into the plywood roof deck.
Agreed, nobody knows how well it is bolted down. - FredzoExplorer

Um...yes, but not on purpose! - dockmasterdaveExplorerWind is about 40 mph now. Rolled up the awning, and rented a couple dvds.
Thanks for the replies.
Antenna still looks fine, and I can drop that from inside, when rain kicks up.
Thanks again. - ScottGNomadYes, crank it down.
