I said, I'll have a short camping trip to South Lake Tahoe and winterizing it afterwards.He told me he never winterize and never did for years. He said Reno does not have sustained sub-zero winters.I'm winterizing anyways since this will be the first time it will be stored here but any 2nd opinion? I rather err in the side of caution.Thanks.

We live in MoundHouse between Dayton and carson city at 5000 feet and we will winterize, like last year we waited till mid November before it got cold

I'm in the Reno area. It gets cold enough here to ruin plumbing. For years Michael Hohl RV in Carson had an Atwood water heater tank on display split open from freezing. Yes, you need to winterize here. Any of you want to join us and another couple at Gold Ranch Casino RV park this weekend?

Antifreeze is cheep compared to replacing a hotwater tank or dealing with broken pipes. Iam in Canada and it does get cold here, our motorhome has copper pipes, and I really dont feel like trying to replace them due to freezing up, $15 of antifreeze or a $500 water tank...

Isn't Reno something like 5000'? It certainly gets cold enough there in the winter to cause problems - definitely winterize unless your camper will be stored in a garage or similar.

Don't know what "Reno" this guy is talking about...maybe one of the 2 in Texas or maybe the one north of Tallahassee, FL......but the one I lived in for 5 years in Nevada most certainty gets cold enough to damage your plumbing...

You are making a wise decision to winterize..

I've been in Reno for 15 years now. Yes, we DO have sustained subzero temps. I winterize every year... I'd never take that chance.

Ahhhh, Reno, my home town! Class 'o 64. It does freeze there. Well by golly, I remember one time the ice was so thick that a dozen or so cars slid down Arlington hill toward the river and ended up in a heap at the bottom. Idlewild Park froze enough to skate for weeks. Yep, it did.
One cold morning could ruin your Rving experience if you don't winterize.
