Winterizing--water pump kit question

Kansas_couple

I've installed the Camco water pump converter winterizing kit. I was able to get over half my faucets running the antifreeze but now my water pump just hums and doesn't seem to pump any more of the antifreeze out of the bottle. Is there some physics-type issue I'm overlooking? I've made sure the end of the hose is well into the bottle. Lifting up the bottle and even tilting it doesn't seem to help.

I'm welcome to any input. Thanks!

Yes, did the water heater bypass and flushed the pink stuff through the toilet.

This was not my first time winterizing the camper. Rather it was the first time I used the pump kit. Previous years I put the antifreeze into the fresh water tank. Not complicated but it sure uses much more antifreeze than the 2 or so gallons I used this time!

so you previously got antifreeze thru OK from the FW Tank but couldn't from the bottle/kit? and you did everything else the same? you did put the "T" valve before pump? doesn't compute??????

Actually it does compute if there is an air leak. These pumps can run for days (yes I did it, oops) with no water but they don't like air leaks.

but the air leak would have to be between the pump and bottle thru the T?????????

Many pumps have a filter screen prior to the pump.

Yes, did the water heater bypass and flushed the pink stuff through the toilet.

Did you cycle the toilet flush valve until the antifreeze ran into the bowl?

You did drain and bypass the water heater correct?

Just a crazy thought (actually two) but one could use a funnel and dump more pink stuff into the original container before it empties OR use a five gallon bucket and dump several gallons into it before pumping.

Be very sure the hose is at the bottom of the bottle. Cut a v in the end of the hose or a slant so the hose cannot suck to the bottom of the bottle. Be VERY sure you bypassed the WH. The whole process should only take 2 gal.

Make sure all faucets are off. Make sure the water pump is off. Put the hose in the container with the pink stuff. Now, turn on the pump. It will run and run and run, and probably pump nothing. Keep the pump running, and NOW turn on a faucet. You will hear a different sound the pump makes and it will begin pumping the pink from the container. If the pink stuff runs empty, or switching gallons, repeat. Every faucet off. Water pump off. Insert hose in pink stuff container. Turn on pump, turn on one faucet at a time. If the jug runs empty, repeat again until all lines are running pink stuff.

Did you try it with one faucet open?
