Wiring a Jeep Liberty to Tow

The last step in the owner's manual (2011 Jeep Liberty) says to disconnect the negative battery terminal prior to towing. That poses some questions.
1. Instead of using a Battery Maintainer, (with the battery disconnected, it's not needed) should I just run the "charging line" straight to the cab with a power port at the end to receive the Brake Buddy jack?
2. Will the battery being disconnected stop the odometer from registering miles or is there a fuse somewhere?
Thanks,
Dale

  • I just answered my own (first) question. The Brake Buddy comes with a power port & 2-wire to run to the battery. Today I got a couple of quick disconnects for the battery terminal. Pop off the Jeep's negative wire and and slip on the Brake Buddy's. The positive terminal stays connected for both.
