- danimal53ExplorerI tow with a 2010 Jeep Liberty 3.7L gas. Our TT is about 3000lbs, 17'. It has adequate power for inclines, though certainly not great. I'm right at the limit for frontal area on the TT, and somewhat close to max payload on the Jeep. We don't bring any gear/luggage in the Jeep, everything is in the trailer. It would be a poor choice for a family that has a lot more stuff, but for my wife and I, and 2 dogs, its works.

That has been my experience at any rate. I bought my latest 1999 JEEP Wrangler used and its rear-end failed in about three or four months with me just making long trips in it. Then I learned it was being used to tow a pretty heavy trailer with a boat on it... The place I got it from replaced the rear-end gears at no additional cost to me...
May be a different story on the newer Cherokee and Liberty series Jeeps but I doubt it...
Worth checking into at any rate with JEEP to see what they can tow...

I wouldn't tow anything with a wrangler but a jet ski the wheelbase Is way to small - jarata1ExplorerLiberty can tow up to 5000 lbs I just worry about the short wheelbase
- ChooChooMan74ExplorerI towed for a couple of years with my Jeep Liberty, although mine is a diesel. I would keep it to a small hybrid MAX with a good Weight Distribution hitch setup. It is a little more of a handful being passed by big rigs. I kept it around 60 MPH while towing. One good thing, it was easy to maneuver.
- Downwindtracke1ExplorerLiberty has a Mopar 8 1/4 rear end, it's a pretty good unit, it's been used on 1/2 tons. After having Spicer 35 on my Cherokee, I replaced it with a 8 1/4. But the Liberty has a much worse power to weight ratio than the Cherokee it replaced. Look on the specs, see what the frontal area max is.

Roy Ken - Boon_DockerExplorer IIII own a Jeep Liberty 3.7L and would not tow anything weighing more than 2000 lbs. When towing two Quads (on a small flat bed trailer) speed really drops off going up an incline.
