So what is it Liberty or Patriot?

The Patriot can be towed 4 down if it has a Manual transmission, the auto is not towable 4 down.

You might want to change your Subject Line...it says Liberty.

The 2014 FMCA Towing guide lists only the manual front wheel drive and the manual 4 wheel drive Patriot being towable 4 down.
The Liberty is not listed.

Sorry about the Liberty subject line. I was reading about the different vehicles that can be towed 4 wheels down and the Liberty snuck in. I was wondering about the Patriot and the manual transmission. I called the dealership and they told me that the manual as well as the automatic can't be towed 4 wheels. I was inquiring about a 2014 model.
I have a dolly but would prefer to tow 4 down and the Patriot seemed to be a decent choice. We live in Colorado and 4 wheel drive is nice for winter and off road travel.

Wrangler and Cherokee both can be towed 4 down with an automatic transmission.
We just took delivery of a Cherokee Trail Hawk. Traded in our 2 door Wrangler.

Tks summerhouse, I was hoping to find a toad, 4 wheeldrive and under 4k lbs.
Also hoping to spend less than $20k. The Cherokee looks great, I hope that it works well for you.

That would be because the Liberty was discontinued in 2013: there is no Liberty model in the '14 lineup.

If it's not towable with all wheels down, it probably can't be towed on a dolly unless it's front wheel drive - which won't help so much in the winter.

Ask the dealer for the Owners Manual. Look for "Recreational Towing", or perhaps just "Towing", in the table of contents.
There is perhaps a 99% chance that what the Book says is accurate.

You can go to the Jeep website and download the owners manual, then check recreational towing.
