Newman full timer , I suggest you buy an Atwood acnd unit with heat pump then tell your experience. Mine is the same as Bobs, only mine has been going on for over a year with my RV tech with 35 years trying to get information to make my Atwood heat pump to work. I too have talked to Atwood folks on the phone and in person. Their unit, made in Australia, and bought by Dometic, does not work to the point it will not heat my motor home. Now my tech tells me Atwood no longer wants to talk to him. I finally just trashed the unit and went back to a penguin unit.
