Calgary and west along the Bow River

If anyone has any opinions or knows of campgrounds either in Calgary, or out towards Banff we would appreciate some help.

We have heard some of the sites were flooded, and some may have closed.

We are retired, just the two of us, but looking for a spot to put down our smaller 26 foot fifth wheel for about a week while we visit either in Calgary or in Banff or have company come and visit us.

And we are talking about the end of June and into July.

We can boondock if needed, but do not want to drag the beast too far off the beaten path and we must be able to make reservations too.
  • Lots of choices for you. Mosy of t he flood damage has been repaired. We like: Bow River's Edge in Cochrane, Bow Valley provincial Park further west near Morley/Seebe. Reservations are recommended in both these for summer time - especially early July ( Calgary Stampede time).
  • Please try this group - http://www.calgarycampground.com. Dw and I love it here as it's high up the side of a very large hill. In the evenings we sit outside and watch the traffic move about the city.
  • Check out the PP CG's if you like rustic. Kananaski's country just a little further west than Bragg Creek, which is neat area to explore, and west of South Calgary. We stay there to cover Bragg Creek for awesome restaurants, visits to Elbow Falls, Allen Bill Pond, Forget Me Not, and general exploration of K' Country. Easy up thru Bragg Creek towards Cochrane/transcanada to Canmore, Banff etc. MacLean Creek works for us although it is ATV friendly, if you want quieter there are lots of others in the area.
  • There are a few choices around Calgary.

Whispering Spruce, Calgary West, Mountain View

Here is a link to the Good Sam listings for Calgary.....CALGARY RV PARKS

    Have a great trip.
