Camp grounds Destin, FL to Grand Isle, LA

We are full-timers and our volunteer work will be up at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin,' FL. Our next assignment will be at Grand Isle, LA. However, for the month of February, we have nothing planned. Some anyone know of a CG on the way that would be reasonable to I-10 that has nice sites for a 40 foot 5er that would be reasonable and clean for a full timer on SS?

Thanks everybody for your help. We did call several of the parks. Some were filled for the month of February, and others were too expensive. We did find a Park that is on the way to Grand Isle. It is between Mobile and Pensacola. The park is Azallea Acres RV Park in Robertsdale, AL. They are charging us $300 for the month plus $$100 deposit for electric. The only thing I don't like is the sites are grass. I guess we will find out when we get there.
  • We like Lakeside RV Park in Livingston LA but don't know their monthly rates. I would call them. Convenient location, right off I-12 exit 22.
Fountainbleau State Park in Mandeville has some sites with sewer hookup. Their max stay is 14 days. I think $20 per night (no discounts).
Bay Hide Away RV Park in Bay St Louis gets good reviews and their monthly rate for 30 amp sounds reasonable.
  • In Summerdale, Alabama, the Escapees have a park: Rainbow Plantation. Great weekly and monthly rates, particularly if you are a member.

The park is pretty nice, with large sites, a big laundry room, and friendly people. It is pretty close to Gulf Shores where there is a beach, shopping, and a ton of restaurants.

If you prefer to be closer to the water, Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores offer monthly rates in February (pricey when compared to the Escapees Park).
  • And Grand Isle State Park is one of my favorite places, although I always visited in summer. Fishing won't be as good but bugs shouldn't be bad and no tropical systems in the winter.
  • Fontainebleu in Mandeville and Fairview in Madisonville are both great parks. I can't speak to sewer and size of spaces though because it's been a long time since I was there. Fontainbleu is on Lake Ponchartrain and Fairview on the Tchefuncte River. Easy day trip in to New Orleans from either one.
  • Look at Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego LA.. Near New Orleans. No sewer but great large sites. We love his park. Stayed during Mardi Graus, wasn't too crowded. Paid about $20 a night. Don't think they had a weekly rate.
  • We just returned from a two week jaunt from Panama City, FL to Palmetto Island SP, La. Unfortunately we were in the area the same time storm Patricia was and a couple of LA SP's were closed due to flooding. We are B campers, so aren't rally aware of what fits where. Palmetto Island is a great park! Fontainebleau State Park was open and is a very nice park and we enjoyed it. Fairview Riverside and Tickfaw SPs were closed so can't comment on them. Prior to that Davis Bayou was also really nice and there were some large rigs in there. Very crowded, but the weather that time of year was great. Hope this helps.
  • Here is the Louisiana rvparkreviews.com listing of Louisiana campgrounds. There is one, Tickfaw State Park, that gets great reviews and is $22/night. It doesn't have sewer, but if you can work around that, this should fit into your plans. It's just NW of Lake Pontchartrain in Springfield, LA.
