Someone tell me where to camp in west Atlanta ga, close to I 20
If you are looking for one between Birmingham and Atlanta off I-20 here is one I found that I liked. Very friendly owners and pet friendly if that is something you also need.
Nestled in the mountains and surrounded by the Talladega National Forest, Cane9Creek RV Park & Campground is a dog friendly owner operated business conveniently located off of I-20 at exit 205, midway between Atlanta and Birmingham. Our open meadows, abundant trails, and beautiful creek provide a peaceful oasis.

P.S. If you stay there ask them if they found my surge protector that I left on the ground! :B - HorsedocExplorer IIEast Atlanta is NOT a good neighborhood and unlikely you will find anything east of 285. Further west, past Six Flags on out toward Douglasville, there may be something - John Bleakley had a huge RV dealership there a few years ago and there should be something. I personally am not familiar with that area, other than I go through there fairly often.
East of 285 is neighborhood with dense population and lots of crime - Bird_FreakExplorer II

OP is asking about WEST of ATL. There is a small cg at the Tallapoosa exit.

- CrossroadscampiExplorerCheck out the Yogi Bear Jellystone parks. Very family oriented andlots of amenities.
- brooksidebobExplorerAtlanta isn't too far from the mountains of Georgia and North Carolina. I know you won't have the time on this trip, but I suggest checking out areas around Murphy, NC and Blairsville, GA.
- HorsedocExplorer IIMy bad, I meant WEST Atlanta in the area around Sweet Auburn and west of the capital
- 7ofusExplorerSweetwater Valley RV park is in Villa Rica about 5 miles off of I-20 and 20 miles west of Atlanta. I don't know of anything inside the perimeter.

Are you talking about inside I-285? Cuz there is no camping inside the perimeter, unless you want to sleep under a bridge. You'll have to go outside the perimeter at least 10 miles. Stone Mountain is due east. McKinney COE and Red Top Mountain SP are northwest about 30 miles up I-75. Lake Lanier has many COEs about 45 miles north. There really isn't much of anything south of the city, until you get about 50 miles away.
