I am an educator in Western North Carolina and am looking for a temporary housing solution for a family who lost their home in flooding from Hurricane Helene. I wanted to reach out to see if anyone had the ability to provide an RV for housing on their land while they rebuild or knew of another forum or group where I could post to find resources. Thank you

Are you still looking for a travel trailer for this family?  What is the size of the family?

Aside from trying to find a good soul to help, FEMA provides trailers for temporary housing during disasters. You would think RV manufacturers would step up and donate a few cheap TT's.

I thought FEMA got out of using RVs because they were quickly trashed and not well suited for long term living. Of course, the ones FEMA bought were typically stripped down models and I'm sure a lot of the people living in them had no idea (or incentive?) to take care of them.

It might be better in a private charity setting but I would be hesitant to consider loaning ours out without really knowing the people living there.

Assuming the OP has some funds and a truck, heading north and buying inexpensive used RVs would be viable. They won't be pretty but for $5-10k, you can pickup a used travel trailer that could get someone by for a month or two.

it's been a while but when Florence came through here, I saw an entire neighborhood using FEMA trailers.

From the FEMA site: "FEMA may offer Temporary Housing Units such as travel trailers or manufactured housing units. These units are property of FEMA. Occupants may be eligible to stay in these FEMA-provided units for up to 18 months from the date of the disaster declaration while securing a permanent housing plan."
