Need Indoor Water Park for Campers in Southeast

Please help, DW has been goading our 2 grandboys what fun they will have at 'Wilderness at the Smokies' indoor water park when we take them camping in 2 weeks. She just discovered the only way to use their water park is if you stay there, ****! We are campers and couldn't stay there even if we wanted too, dog, etc.

So now we are desperately looking for any indoor water park with slides etc (grand boys are 8 & 10) in the Southeast that does not require staying in their hotel. We can go to other cities, no problem, we just don't want to let the grand boys down.

Our plan is April 2 & 3, we live near Atlanta. Please help us not disappoint our grand boys! Any suggestions appreciated, thanks in advance!

Note: there is a helicopter tour business across the street so there are tour helicopters taking off and landing every few minutes. It didn't bother us but it might some...

One of the helicopters from there crashed on Monday afternoon killing the pilot and 4 passengers.

News story from WBIR out of Knoxville.
  • UPDATE

We stayed at Rippling Waters RV park and enjoyed the Wilderness waterpark for 2 days. (the only way to use the waterpark is to get a room at the hotel). They are only 1-2 miles apart, a very convenient nice RV park. Grandboys had a great time, we did too!

  • It's a lot farther away but Orlando has water parks that are either heated or open most of the year but not actually indoor. CoCo Key Resort or Wet and Wild are two I've been to. Plenty of other stuff to do nearby also and several camping options, even though I hate Orlando's crowds.

They WANT to stay in their camper - not in a hotel. They have dogs that go with them and the hotel does not accept pets.
  • it is not a huge distance from Atlanta to Sevierville. Leave the RV at home and drive up. The kids will love the scenery and you don't have to wrestle the coach around the curves and tunnels. Nothing requires you to drive the coach there.
  • I did a quick Google search and came up empty the one in Charlotte NC is the same have to stay in their hotel.sorry not much help anything else the grandkids would like to do .
  • OR.....call Wilderness and see if there is anyplace that you can park that will be "on property" and still get a room so the kids can waterpark to their hearts content. You can stay in the RV, but you will have to dry camp while the DH stays in the room with the 2-legged kids, while you stay with the 4-legged ones.

    According to their website:

Is there a special parking lots for my RV?

: Yes, you will receive a parking permit when you check-in. RV parking is not available for overnight camping and RVs are not allowed on the deck of the parking garage.
  • Why not take your RV to Riverside RV Park in Sevierville and you stay there with the dog. Have DW get a room at Wilderness and stay there with the boys. It's about 10 minutes away with weekend traffic.

You can have a fun time with them, then head back to the RV and join the 4-legged family for the evening/night. It will be much quieter for you and the kids WILL have a blast at the waterpark.

There are other RV parks, but Riverside is easy to get to, is decently cheap and the traffic between there and Wilderness is usually not too bad, but it is spring break weekend, so who knows what kind of traffic you will hit. It may take you 30 minutes to get back and forth.

You can leave a few times during the day and go check on the dog(s) and put them out to relieve themselves, etc.
  • Pine mtn rv park in Pigon Forge is kin to the hotel across the street and uses the lazy river there. Not a real indoor river park but a thought.
