New York City Campgrounds

We have a trip planned to PEI in July from Virginia and are considering stopping for a visit to NYC on the way back....wondering if anyone out there has ever camped near NYC and made a visit to the City via subway....we will be travelling in a 33' Motorhome and pulling a dinghy.....need suggestions on possibly where to stay for a nite or so...thanks for any advice.

    Newburgh NY KOA in Plattekill NY has easy access to the train into NYC at Beacon NY just a few miles away on the Hudson River. About an hour train ride in the city. They also have a bus tour that leaves from the park, but it's pricey.

    We stayed here before, not the greatest, but easy access to the city.
