Most of my dogs have had the one-syllable name common to herders, but I broke that rule with my blonde Aussiepoo named "Jimmy Buff" (a nod to one of our favorite singers) - and now the guy whose birthday is today: "Augie" (Augie Doggie). He made it to 2 yrs old - I've always said I "don't even like dogs until they're 2" (jk)
We had a Cattle Dog rescue that originally was named Jake, but we changed to Jack due to the neighbors having a dog named Jake. In hindsight, Jack isn't a great name for a dog when you have a tendency to use the word "off" for meaning "stop jumping on that person". Had a pretty embarrassing moment with a male friend from church who stopped by one day.
