At 3:10am this morning, I woke up to a loud, thrashing/crashing sound.:E Not knowing what the heck was going on, I stumbled/rushed down the hallway. I found Inga laying on her side, with her back against the front door. She was thrashing around, unable to get up, obviously in a panic. Her eyes seemed unfocused and staring, not darting back and forth as in a vestibular event. We immediately tried to calm her down, and after a minute or two she came out of it and was able to get up. We then noticed that she was wet from laying in her own urine. A few minutes later, it was if nothing had happened at all. She has been fine all day today since then, but we are going in to our vet tomorrow.

Good thing you are going to the vet. It could be a lot of things from a chemical imbalance to an organ malfunction. Blood tests and xrays can help determine the cause. Our Champ had seizures due to liver failure. Sometimes a tumor is the cause. I'm hoping for the best for all of you, Miss Inga especially, and will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Pete, our Chiweenie, occasionally has siezures. The first time it happened it scared the carp out of us. We rushed him to the emergency vet but of course the siezure was completely over by then. The vet told us to watch him closely and if it happened again to try to time it if possible and take note of everything he did. There are quite a few things besides epilepsy that cause seizures so the more details you can give the vet the better.Fortunately Pete didn't lose control of any bodily functions. He's had a few since but they are rare like 12 months or more apart. For him because it happens so seldom and they are short duration the vet didn't recommend any medication.Hoping for the best for Miss Inga.

Sorry about Inga's issue, sure sounds like a seizure. Hope they find nothing at the vet.Megan used to have an occasional seizure, no pattern and really not frequent enough to treat. She probably had five during her 15 year life. Hopefully, this is a one time thing.

Roxie had one seizure and her Vet's advice was similar. He said to wait for a pattern to develope before any treatment. She never had another so that was the end of it.

Our vet said our description of Inga's episode was a textbook description of a grand mal seizure. Now, we just wait to see if and when it happens again, at which point medication can be prescribed.

I guess the good news is no tumor or liver or kidney disorders. Hopefully she doesn't have another one for a long time, if ever. With Petey the vet said it was possible he wouldn't have another. He has had a few but they are so rare that meds weren't recommended.

Sorry to hear about Miss Inga. Sure glad she is ok now and hope she never has another seizure.
