Neat Trick

Friend gave me a neat trick for taking care of your pets nails.
Dremmel Moto-Tool
Yup, the Dremmel is the perfect tool for taking care of your pets toe nails. I use one of the sanding drums for Max our rescue retriever. When I call him over he comes and immediately lays down ready to get his nails trimmed. No fighting, ho hassles with splitting nails. I take my time and am careful not to over do it so the nail stays cool and do not go to far. I can be done with all four feet in less than five minutes.
As a real side benefit I have a really nice tool for lots of other uses.

    FYI for anyone who tries the hose trick -- If the dog's nails don't poke right through on their own, touch the nail very lightly with the Dremel. Then it WILL poke through!

    Panty hose tip appreciated! I usually clip our dogs' nails, then dremmel them smooth. I have a cheap corded dremmel from Harbor Freight and it's a three speed. I usually operate on low for my small dogs, but used to use the medium speed for my bigger dogs when I had them.

    The 4-H kids are really good at doing their dogs nails. Now that our youngest is growing up and will be going to college in a few years I guess dh and I will have to learn to do them ourselves!

    Where do you think Pedi-Paws got the idea.......



    Been using one of them for couple of years. And if you push to hard it just stops.......not so with the Dremel Tool

    Our dog has black toe nails making it difficult to see where the 'quick'
    is......using clippers was a pain. The trimmer/sander works great.

    Have been using a Dremmel for years for nails. If you go to far it actually cauterizes the nail. Use an electric one though-the battery ones die too fast.

    about a 2 or 3 mile walk on a tar road every day keeps Charlie's nails just fine
