We are introducing our "eskie queen" to a possible new brother tomorrow. If she's okay with it, we'll be bringing home Loki - a 2 year old mutt with a bit of eskie, westie and maybe chi... to live with us. He's passed training as a therapy dog and the center says he's a great all around dog who loves to travel in a car. He's got a cute underbite and has the fur of several different breeds.It was a long process as the rescue is very picky about who they let adopt their dogs in the hopes of a "perfect" match. Most of it I was okay with, but they want proof we own our home (ie: tax bill, mortgage statement) to glance at.But the pup has been there for a year and its time he gets a home for the holidays.We think he'll be a great RV doggie. But tomorrow's introduction will be the deciding factor. I think she'll be fine - not thrilled - but fine.I really wanted an eskie puppy as they are absolutely the cutest puppies - but - the practical side took over - we will rescue instead.

So glad you're adopting a rescue! Congratulations!! I hope introductions go smoothly. I'd introduce on neutral ground - outside, away from your house.

When we were looking for Eskies, we were finding quite a few on Petfinder in California, not Ohio where we live. We finally found Baby at a shelter about 4 hours away. She has been perfect and has fit in well. Good luck and congratulations on the new pup.

Fingers crossed for a good introduction. We adopted Penny at 10 wks old. It was a long and thorough process. The rescue group called our vet and our personal references. Abby did not like Penny. It took a couple weeks before she'd even play with her. They are 5 years apart. Good luck! Agnes

Here's Loki with his signature underbite...

They thought he had some eskie but I think its westie and chi mostly...with corgi ears

Here's his grumpy older sister.. It doesn't look like it in the photos, but he's about 16lbs and she's 28lbs. They are getting along okay - about as well as can be expected as the queen is 10.5 years and has been an only dog for 9 of those years... Loki is only about 2. He is learning to read her body language and sometimes keeps his distance. Othertimes he's just a pest. So far, the only casualty has been Loki's wounded pride luckily. She has, however, "taken him down" before we could separate them.

Big Congrats on the new addition. What a great Christmas it's gonna be for Loki, BUT, did I miss seeing the PITCHERS ?

I've checked this thread several times, and I just don't see'um. ... :(

Oh, great news! Tolerance is about the best you can ask of an older dog in the early days with a new addition. I'd love to see a photo of Loki or the two of them together. He sounds like an interesting mix. Congrats!

Loki is home and the queen is accepting him so far. There has been a couple of fights over laps but that's to be expected. They walk great together and Loki has respect for the queen most of the time. Every now and then he just can't help himself and gets pushy with her - and she pushes back - much more dramatically. But considering it hasn't been a week yet, they are doing great.
He is the perfect dog. Showed him the yard, house and dog door, and he acts like he's lived here forever. I am trying to crate train him as he will have to ride in the motorhome in a crate. He's not thrilled about it, but we'll get there. I'd like him to sleep in it and not the top of my head which is where he seems to end up nightly. I'm not exactly allergic to him, but it does make my nose stuffy.

What I love about him most is his sweet disposition. I have to watch Jada around little kids and she's generally not friendly with other dogs. Loki loves everyone.
