No birds

Doesn't anybody travel with their birds? We got a pair of parakeets this year and plan on having them go with us when we go camping. Just need to figure where to put the cage while traveling so I was hoping someone on here had done it as well.
  • We have seen birds in more than a few CGs. One lady with a 5th Wheel at Defeated Creek CG in TN had 3 large cages she would bring outside during the day and back in at night. Parrots are very noisy so I was glad we weren't parked near her. We usually just see the cages in the RV windows. Not everyone brings them outside.
  • We've traveled for years with our parakeet-he passed in October, so will be taking a new little guy this summer. Hope he adjusts well. Also, the campground where we stay in the summer has several campers who own birds of various sizes. One lady rides a golf cart with her Amazon parrot on her shoulder.
  • Some of the worst camping neighbors I have ever had carried a squawking bird of some kind with them and loved to keep him outside to drive the rest of us crazy until we threatened to take matters in our own hands. If you decide to travel with a bird be a good pet owner and make sure it is not a nuisance to those around you.
  • Our Amazon goes everywhere with us. I see from your profile that you've got a a F530 crew cab; we have the same truck. We have a "travel cage" that fits in the back seat of the truck, secured with a strap. It's smaller than the bird's big cage at home, but Poco is ok with it if he can come out now and then inside the trailer. We also have a small dog, so the back seat belongs to those two while traveling.
  • We sometimes take our Quaker Parrot "LePeep" with us on short trips, otherwise he vacations at my moms house. (He LOVES my mom... hates my dad! lol)

When we do take him, we pack his "home" cage in the TT and put him in a small travel size carrier (a small hamster cage actually) and he rides up front in the truck!
