Oravet Chews

My vet gave me some Oravet chews to try after Jesse had his tooth removed. The dogs LOVE them but they are a bit pricey. Anyone use them? If so are they worth the money and do they work? Thanks.

There is NO reason not to have a food with corn, wheat or soy unless your dog is allergic or has a sensitivity. Any protein is a "potential allergen" and corn, wheat and soy allergies are relatively rare in dogs. The avoidance is marketing hype.

As far as the chews, they do work, they are expensive. Whether or not they are worth the expense depends on the degree of dental disease and frequency of problems.

    Good points both.

If it's an off tooth issue, then I'd probably not use them. If the dog has a lot of teeth issues, then I'd figure the expense would be countered by reduced dental work.

  • IMHO, JMHO it wouldn't be my first choice to give to my dog due to the ingredients. Corn Wheat and Soy The top three ingredients we don't want in their dog food.

"The active ingredient in this product is delmopinol hydrochloride, a surfactant used in human oral rinse. They contain corn, wheat, and soy as potential allergens. The green color of the chew comes from chlorophyllin, alfalfa and parsley."
