2014 Grey Wolf slide issues

New to us. This is our first unit with a slide out. We brought it home a few weeks ago and opened her up for show and tell. Realizing that mother nature was not being kind, I decided yesterday to pull the slide in and close her up. When I pushed the button to retract, nothing. No movement, noise, clicking or otherwise. I quickly checked for tripped breakers, but they were all good. When I get off work this afternoon I'll check all the fuses.

My question,,,, is a charged battery needed for opening and closing the slide out, even when hooked up to a/c power? It just crossed my mind that the battery may be dead and that might be what drives the high torque mechanism on the slide???

Thanks in advance.

Not necessarily. I have a shallow sofa slide and it does operate without the battery but many larger slides will not operate unless the battery is connected and well charged.
  • Follow up-

It appears that my problem is a faulty breaker on the frame near the battery. There was no voltage at the breaker. There is no reset on the breaker, but when I moved the wire to the other breaker everything works fine. Heading to the supply house tomorrow to pick up a couple of breakers.

Good learning experience,, got familiar with how the slide works. Glad it happened at home instead of on the road.
  • Thanks for the suggestion,,, that's exactly what I did. It looks to be a supply power issue. Everything is good at the panel, but there is no juice at the Black and white 10ga. 12v supply connections on the Lippert controller. I would assume there should always be supply voltage to controller itself at all times?

My theory right now is that the supply wiring got disconnected while loading chairs and such into compartments. Maybe a wire nut came loose?? I haven't confirmed it yet, but loading gear is the only thing that has been done to the camper since parking it.
  • The slide should be able to operate from the converter with no battery. Our slide would operate from the converter or the battery or the umbilical, seperately. You may have a bad switch or a bad slide control box. I'd check and see if you have voltage to the switch and then voltage from the switch to the slide control box while pressing the button.
