Thanks for looking at this post.I have a 2015 Ford F-250 with a trailer package. I used to carry a TC so never used the trailer package. But I have upgraded to an Airstream with electric brakes. I connect the trailer and everyone seems to work fine. Lights etc all function as they should.When I adjust the trailer brake controller to increase or decrease the 'pressure' applied by the brakes the dashboard panel shows the 'pressure' setting from 1-10, and I can adjust it easily.HOWEVERJust below the 'pressure' setting number is the message "No Trailer' showing.I'm not confident my tailer brakes are working.ThanksAnybody know why?

Had a bad power plug that caused the same problem on my truck. Easy to replace.

Clean both sides of the trailer connection.

Had the same problem except my brakes weren't functioning. Took it to Ford Dealer and they checked the brake controller--all ok. Then replaced the brake wiring on the trailer and, so far, everything is working. I believe, but have no evidence, that the problem really lies in Ford's integrated brake controller. I am tempted to replace the integrated controller with an aftermarket prodigy controller. Or this one from e-trailer: https://www.etrailer.com/Brake-Controller/Autowbrake/3430001.html

Even the Airstream will have crappy connectors on the brake wiring, most likely Scotch-locks. If it's not the 7 way losing contact, its most likely the trailers brake wiring (grounds included) as the only thing the truck looks at to get that "no trailer" or "trailer connected" message is the brake circuit.

Check your trailer plug and the wiring back to the brakes. I have the same truck and the on board system works great. Prior had a prodigy in a suburban and in my experience, TT brake issues have typically come from the trailer plug back to the trailer brakes. I actually made test leads from a 30 foot spool of black red wire to test for continuity and voltage from the plug back to the brakes.

I've helped 3 different people resolve trailer lighting issues with Fords by just pushing the connector in further. Some of them are a very tight fit, and it feels like it's bottomed out too early. Probably not your issue, but it's free and easy to check.

So you had a Ford brake controller report a problem with the trailer, was functioning properly and now you want to toss it out and get a much inferior aftermarket unit?

Yeah ditto on that, mine has worked just fine after I replaced the plug and when I had the old plug apart I found a loose connection that was obviously the source of the trouble. I could have fixed the old one but since I had a new plug I just went ahead and replaced it.

Let me clarify, if the problem comes back, I will probably explore use of an aftermarket brake controller. Ford forums are full of issues/problems with their controllers. The Ford guy points to the RV, the RV guy points to the Ford. I get stuck in the middle pointing both ways. I suppose posting stuff to tell someone they had a similar problem brings out the snide side in some people. Sheesh, give a guy a break while I, and the OP, try to figure this out.
