3.3 Kw Kubota Diesel Genset

2,600 RPM

Air cooled

$5,300

Open air cooled diesels are not quiet.
But for a permanent hide-out a made-in-Japan rather than China set may be the cat's meow for economical long duration runtimes. The 2,600 speed is especially inviting. Because it is Kubota brand, it will start and run a roof air and perhaps charge batteries at the same time.

Because of shipping costs I would say purchase locally through a Kubota dealership.
  • The generator is actually produced by NEXT-GEN (Next Generation Power Engineering), based in Florida, using a Kubota engine. It's water-cooled, not air-cooled. They have versions both with a mounted radiator and using a remote radiator/fan, the latter of course a bit more compact and more readily stuffed into an enclosure of some sort.

    Linkey-link to their site

It does look like it could be a decent option for a smaller diesel motorhome, such as a Sprinter-based class C.
  • Holy Mole,
The letter I received from Kubota erred. Thanks Drew. Wish the generator fairy would leave one under my pillow for the restaurant. Jesús snagged 332 oysters yesterday but came back to the beach only to find the power off.
A flat radiator with a large electric fan pushing air down might be an option. Water cooled diesels muffle a lot of combustion knocking noise and they are definetly more economical than an air cooled engine.

I like the idea of Kubota because starter motors are ND or Mitsubishi off the shelf items not Onan fatherless male child armed robbery.

    Thanks again for the clarifications
  • Chinese replacement Onan starters are easy to find and cheap, Amazon and eBay , I did that replacement on to different MH's
