I am going to need a 50 ft. 50 amp extension cord this year, I have to change sites, and the way we want to setup the 5th wheel the pedestal will be on the door side towards the front, and the cord plugs in on the off door side rear side. I am looking for guidance. on the one to buy or not to buy. I have found one on Amazon for $189.00.and free shipping. Cord is by NU-Cord. Don't need the ones with he handle's.

Believe me you will want one with the handles.

I have also found it is best to connect the ends when storing which protects the electrical contacts from dirt and damage.

Thanks Choo Choo man, I did think about making one, but was afraid of moisture getting into the connections. I could use silicon to seal the connections.

Most of the cord will be under the trailer and tied up to the frame so moisture wouldn't be a problem.

I guess I.ll stop at Home Depot tonight and see what it would cost to make it.

A ny other ideas out there

You can make your own. 50 feet (or how much you need) of 6/3 SO Cord. If you are worried about the length, get 4/3. Heck, making your own cord, you don't even need to make it an extension. Just get one end for the pedestal and one end for your rig. Less connections, less things that can go wrong.

2- 25 ft. might be worth it for ease of rolling up and storing. They are not easy to work with. I no nothing about the different brands. I bought a 25ft and used it once.
