7 way tire rotaion

I use the normal wear pattern in that guide J-D provided.
Outer to inner, inner to front, front to outer.

The spare is original on mine - it should have been swapped out when I first put new tires on it in 2010. Subsequently, I had 14K on the tires when Michelin recalled them, so I get to start all over... they've had only about 1k miles this year.

Given you are trying to correct wear issues, the other rotation advice is sound.

My tires timed out well before they wore out too. I think that my 2001 tires have about 20,000 miles on them, and one reason I am not camping anymore is I can not afford the replacement tires.

What I did when the price of gas was closer to $1.20 per gallon is move the right rear tires to the front, and keep them in the same direction. So inside became right front, and outside rear became left front. By the time they reached 6 years old, I replaced both front tires with the ones that are still on there, and I never rotated them again.

I did notice no Seventh Tire in those patterns. Found both Four and Five Tire rotation for FWD and RWD cars/trucks but not that seventh for duallys. I'd say match sizes (essentially diameters) and try to equalize irregular wear (that I figure will be on front).

Given road has a slight crown, any slightly smaller rears should be on the inside. Right rear outer probably takes the most beating from hitting things. BUT right rear INNER takes the worst beating overall. It's by the hot exhaust in many cases, but it also shoulders full load on the right rear when we run the outer wheel off the pavement.

Worst tire to Spare?

Lots of opinions out there Don't know if any are right or wrong just depends on what works for you.

On my duelly pickup I don't rotate I just replace the fronts when they need it or the rears when they get old. But I do have a rim that is somewhat bent, tire guy said to leave it on the inside rear & it is not noticed.

Never owned a dually but have read it is best to leave the rears to wear in place or risk additional wear from mismatched diameters.

Maybe swap the fronts or flip the fronts on the wheel. Otherwise if the alignment is good the tires should wear flat across from here on out and still give max life.

getting tires as even as possible to get lonest wear out of them.

Think what I'll do is put fronts on opposite side to rear and on inside and incorp the spare to outside rear, that matches the size best.

I've got some good measurement's on tires now and will re-evaluate in 3,000 miles.

Another thing that has me wondering how come on the right side rear tire wear is uneven between dually's? Same type of tire, same birthday, put on same time. I was thinking crown or road or weight or combo of both???

Well, because that is 6/32 or 3/16 inch difference and want to get as much wear as possible and my money's.

My fault, now that you bring it up. I should of measured before and after front end work. So now I can't tell about current tire wear; my bust. I just knew suspension was not right because it was making right hand turns sort of all by itself.

So tire wear is pre and post front end work. Good point you bring up.

Biggest difference between all tires is 6 mils (including spare). And within each tire biggest difference is 3 mil.

What would you do to sort this out?
