- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerIt's called PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
Rather then BREAKDOWN REPAIR
Like check the rail pressure. Diagnose all codes stored. Close inspection of all fuel lines for leaks, including those under the vehicle. Actually looking at what residue is found in the fuel filter to see if it is abnormal. - Sierra_Valley_MExplorerThanks Robert!
- mcheroExplorerWho made the statement "Tune up your injectors" Scott?
Lots that can be done to check the health of the injectors as well as the injector pump & liftpump. Pressures and timming just to name a few.
I'll let a more experienced diesel mechanic to explin to people like Scott what's involved.
I'd like to to the same for my 1993 Cummins 8.3 down the road. - Sierra_Valley_MExplorerI suppose I should have said "adjust" or "service" the fuel injection "system" or even "fuel delivery system"!
- ScottGNomadAnyone claiming to "tune up" your injectors is pulling your leg. If it's running OK then they dont need cleaning or any other voodoo mechanics.
There's just nothing that can be done to them. - Tom_BarbExplorer

What would you do to tune up a diesel?
clean the injectors ?
There's several things that can need attention by a professional when it comes to a diesel fuel injection system, much more than "cleaning the injectors".
