As I have a cap making for poor rear vision, the elephant-ear side mirrors, rear-view camera and rear sensors are very helpful. An earlier SUV didn't have them, and I accidentally clipped a low sport car cause of poor visibility. Never hit any kids though ... thankfully.
It is nice to be able to easily turn it off when not needed though. Like when hitching up. It's easy enough to do so in my F150. Think my rear only sensors are only active in reverse.
When looking for the next truck, I'm always checking for the little buttons on the rear bumper.
