Anybody else love those park sensors on their vehicles?!

What a great safety feature! It keeps you from backing over wingnuts and inattentive children, and assists you in snugging the big, fat truck into tight parking spaces. If you live in the frigid north it also has bonus features. It will relentlessly warn you about ice and slush frozen to your bumper while cruising down the interstate. Not to mention that it's also relentless in pointing out that your garage is much smaller than you'd like. Yes, it does have STFU buttons, but they're not necessarily that easy to reach while driving. I envy you GM guys for that vibrate instead of beep feature. I've had to chip ice, melt ice, and repeatedly clean those danged things nearly a dozen times already just this month!!

In general we really like the GM system. First, you can set it to either chime (NOT) or Buzz the seat (the way to go), or completely turn it off, same with the lane avoidance feature.

Does it give false alarms, YES. Especially when going into/out off the garage.

But it is REALLY nice when pulling into a parking space knowing how close you can get to something. Really nice with the taller hood on my 2015 vs. the 2004.

And a couple of times has warned me of a errant shopping cart or something low that wasn't visible from inside.

Nicest thing is if you don't like lane avoidance or parking sensors, don't worry, just turn whichever, or both off and be on your merry way.

When we first bought the X5, the beeping and honking when trying to back out of our parking lot at the sticks 'n' bricks (it's tight) was annoying, and who bothered to watch the backup camera screen. But I've come to appreciate it as time goes by. The combination of top-down view cameras and proximity alerts works pretty well to allow me to see what's really going on as well as how close I am to "things."

It doesn't have the lane-change warning system, and while I bet that would be annoying if you set it off often, it's inability to distinguish between just-fell-asleep-at-the-wheel and let's-turn-left-here is a design flaw I hope gets corrected.

Three years of ownership and I AM STILL ANNOYED by all the FALSE ALARMS.

I never wanted the backup sensors, it was not my intention to ever buy them.. But unfortunately Ford "bundled" them into an EXPENSIVE option package that I ONLY wanted ONE item in the package (adjustable gas and brake pedal).. So I was forced to get the backup sensors, Sync (what a hokey piece of garbage), adjustable pedals (these SHOULD BE A MANDATORY SAFETY ITEM) and a few other nick-knacks along the way in that package..

A primary reason we didn't buy a loaded Subaru Legacy this year was because of the lane keeper beeper thing. Seemed like constant beeping from the dashboard while driving... salesman was all proud to point it out, wife and I both told him it was one of the top reasons we didn't buy the car. System can't be "turned off"... it can be muted temporarily, but every time the car is restarted the system turns back on fully.

I appreciate safety systems, but many times they just go too far.

Worthless.

Too many "false" beeps..

Darn thing beeps at me when backing down into my driveway.. It beeps at the bushes and a sign post 15 ft away from the driveway..

It beeps at the bumps in the driveway which gets worse when wet.. Not to mention goes absolutely ballistic with a light layer of snow!

Then it beeps as I am getting close to the garage, beeps when it the opening of said garage..

Beeps at anything within 10 feet of the sides of said vehicle inside the garage..

Our Mamby pamby society can't figure out how to safely back and park vehicles now days without having a bunch of overbearing beeps, whistles, chimes and even cameras overloading your senses..

And yes, coming to vehicles in 2017 if I remember correctly is mandatory backup cameras :R .. Something else to break and cost more than the vehicle is worth when it breaks.

That would be irritating.
My rear only sensors only seem be be active when backing up.
Guess I'll avoid the front sensors in our next truck.

As I have a cap making for poor rear vision, the elephant-ear side mirrors, rear-view camera and rear sensors are very helpful. An earlier SUV didn't have them, and I accidentally clipped a low sport car cause of poor visibility. Never hit any kids though ... thankfully.

It is nice to be able to easily turn it off when not needed though. Like when hitching up. It's easy enough to do so in my F150. Think my rear only sensors are only active in reverse.

When looking for the next truck, I'm always checking for the little buttons on the rear bumper.

I don't know if I love them. They are a great aid but, I still spin my head 360 degrees when backing. Same as the back up camera, it's a nice aid. I don't rely on them for backing.
