Anyone using a air cleaner in your coach?

If you are serious about air quality I came across this video comparing the Alen air purifier (which I own) and the Alive Air.

The Alen Air purifier does a fantastic job of air purification.
However in a sleeping environment I must use it on low speed.
On medium speeds its just a tad too noisy for my wife, on high speed, forget it.

The Alive Air was not on the market when I purchased my Alen, or I did not know about it. I think it would get my vote after watching the video.

Both of these air purifiers are not cheap. As I also have COPD, I did not put a price tag next to my health.

The Alen is very portable and can easily be used in a rv envioroment and it appears the Alive Air is also.

The Alen can be purchased on Ebay etc. for less, the Alive air more than likely also.

We run an Oreck XL in ours when stored. It keeps it smelling fresh.

Well...it will be awhile before there is a progress report. It is now in the box in RV compartment waiting for the next trip. Tried it out in a 10x10 room in our house for 8 hours and.....inconclusive. DW thought it was too noisy and too windy. (Kiss of Death)

Just sent away to Amazon for Holmes HEPA HAP726U. $89.

Will keep you posted as to how it works.

Have used the IONIC PRO for years.

I glued a Shop-Vac pleated cartridge onto a Harbor Freight centrifugal blower and that sucker really cleans up the air. Don't look too cool so I close my eyes when I walk past it. I used the plastic snap lid off a 3 lb coffee can as a lid for the filter.

-and no this isn't a joke. 106 watts and it really works well. I use a new paintbrush and compressed air to refresh the paper pleats.

Found out there are two levels of HEPA air filtering. The best being 99.94%

After being diagnosed with COPD I started using air purifiers in the coach. I have this one in the main cabin and this one in the bedroom. I've also installed carbon filters on the air return for the basement AC/Heat pumps and the furnace. They have really cut down on the amount of dust in the air and on the furniture/counters. I don't do a whole lot of boondocking anymore... but when I do I run the bedroom unit off my inverter.

all most of us have are the black foam filters on the heat pumps and none on the propane furnaces. I have seen the foam filter loaded us from dust and apparently cooking oil vapors. Since we had a large hole sealed under the shower sealed and several leaks around the coach, from manufacture and where the Dealer wrecked it we see a lot less dirt. We still vacuum and clean when we first put down the jacks though.
It would seem that there is room for improvement and someone should make filters for the furnace returns and the air conditioners andheat pumps. reluctant to cut high filtration rate material and somehow place in them because of frequent warnings of severe problems with the propane furnaces and air conditioners.
Anyone installed better ac filtration that is easy to replace with good results and furnace filters in the heat returns?

Due to wife's allergies we use a Honeywell HEPA two stage filter. When drycamping I plug it into the inverter to operate. It is off during the day but on at night and the discharge is pointed toward the bed.



It warns when the air flow is restricted to clean the filter. You know it is working when you see the filter.

My wife's doctor says she must sleep in a clean environment. It is helping.

We have used one of these in the bedroom for the last six years and have found it to be very effective in a small area. The DW has allergy problems and this filter has enabled her to sleep well anytime we are in the coach.
