Aqua Magic IV cleaning

I have noticed that there is a cavity underneath the slide valve to flush the toilet that collects a considerable amount of fecal matter. There is mold and mildew and smell! Any suggestions on cleaning products and perhaps a better toilet solution that does not have this inaccessible cavity? I removed the toilet to replace the flush valve (after it spewed water everywhere for a few minutes) and found the source of the smell. Thank you in advance.

Not an option on OPs Aqua Magic IV and wouldn't be a good idea with the 'open cavity' issue of that toilet design

The optional Hand Sprayer is great for rinsing down-tube (vs that open cavity)

Using your preferred version of tank wand to help clear the tank of "debris" will also clear the toilet throat.
