Chris Bryant is an RV tech and friend of this Forum. On His Website he's loaded up lots of Owner and Service Manuals. There are two Atwood Range manuals listed toward the bottom of the page. They're labeled "2004" and "2010." The 2004 includes the "2132" Series and offers theory and troubleshooting along with a discussion of components. Download it and look it over.
Manual has pretty much the same explanation I provided above. Back in those Wish-I-Knew-Then-What-I-Know-Now days, before I learned about two oven controls and how they work together, I replaced both before the problem (oven wouldn't light) was solved. Been a dozen years, but I think I changed out the temp control (with the knob) and it didn't work till I replaced the oven valve too.
I just looked at the 2010 edition of the manual. It goes back into the earlier models too, so I think it was intended to replace the 2004 edition. Thinking of replacing old "mercury" controls with "mercury free" is supposed to call for replacing the entire appliance. It wouldn't hurt to call or email Atwood and ask if there's a retrofit kit.
