awning bracket

It was pop riveted, i replaced with a machine screw, why does it wants to twist, it acts like there is pressure on it but no more than on the front. The front one is pop riveted and it's no tighter than this one and it doesn't twist.

Actually I posted this on the class c board also. I used a machine screw because of space limitations, a pop rivet would be best but it won't hold. I think the epoxy trick may keep it in place.

  • After tightening the heck out of the machine screws last night I mixed up a blend of Gorilla epoxy and allowed it to seep into the area around the base. Lets see how that works...Thanks guys....
  • It has been years since I have seen this problem, but I remember that you cannot use bolts but rivets due to the lack of room. That is why Dometic sells the lower inner arm complete with the foot mounted. Doug
  • The bolt needs to hold the foot tight against the bottom of the leg, so I would agree a larger bolt, or something is broken on the foot.
  • If the bolt is a smaller diameter than the pop rivet was or the hole has been elongated, there would be enough play to allow it to twist. You might have to drill both pieces out to take a slightly larger bolt.
