Awning/Gutter Rail Replacement

Question

I have damaged the Awning Rail/Gutter on the top of my Milan 18CK. I have the replacement extrusion, but need to find out what type of caulk to use along the roof line and along the bottom of the new rail. Also should this have putty tape installed behind it? The existing does not appear to had any putty behind it.

Butyl putty tape is usually a good bedding material as it tends to seal around any screws. When I mounted the rails for my solar panel, I used Geocel Tripolymer sealant as a bedding compound and around the aluminum piece that contacted the roof.

Probably the best material would be Eternabond Double Stick tape as the screws will seal themselves when run through the tape.
