Butyl putty tape is usually a good bedding material as it tends to seal around any screws. When I mounted the rails for my solar panel, I used Geocel Tripolymer sealant as a bedding compound and around the aluminum piece that contacted the roof.
Probably the best material would be Eternabond Double Stick tape as the screws will seal themselves when run through the tape.
