awning repair

Here's the deal, we have an awning that is in really good shape with the exception of one issue. Across the top it looks like it could have cracked or whatever but the 2 layers is getting water between them. It is only a little bit but it creates a puddle between the two. Do they make something that I can spray across the top ( such as tent sealer ) that might work with my awning? I really hate to replace it as 99% of it is in really good shape, just the issue of getting a small amount of water between the plys.

Can you remove the awning and put the damaged side so it is facing
the bottom when it is opened. this should prevent water from from
collecting between the halves. Then tape the damaged area.

When I first bought the MH the PO scraped some tree limbs and it had small holes in it and leaked when in the open position. I used a spray can of white latex and it sealed the leaks and looked white for 5 years or so. The awning is 18 years old and still looks new other wise. I tried other products on my slide topper but they cracked. I thing the best way as others have said is to cut the bad material off and resew if the rest of the awning is good.

Repair or replace it, then make your own awning cover like I did. As you found out, the sun kills the awning at the top when rolled up.

Any repair will be very temporary once any part has delaminated like yous has.

I punched drain hole in the bottom surface to allow the bubble to drain, so that it didn't get bigger. That and awning tape on top kept it going for anoter couple of years.

I tried that darn awning repair tape to patch 2 tiny holes caused by a ladder being set against it. Well, it lasted less than a year. Mold grew under it. It might be well used to remove hair from your arce, but it doesn't hold up on awnings.
You can remove the small section of the awning that is compromised or I know a guy that used Eternabond tape and that has held up very well.

There is a tape that seems to work really well for awning repairs. You can get it at most RV supply stores or marine supply (sail repair).

It's clear and holds up to use and weather.

I put awning repair tape across mine last summer. Curious to see how well it's held up to the rigors of a nice cold snowy winter. It comes in about 4" wide rolls and sticks pretty darned well.
