B&B Check Valve for Black Tank Wand

After dumping my black tank, I hooked the hose up to use the wand and ended up with a huge water mess inside the trailer. I thought I had failed to winterize properly and cracked the line that feeds the wand and it was spraying water inside the TT. I pulled the utility cabinet cover off and hooked a hose line back up to test the wand and found water was shooting out a black pvc valve inside the TT. It is labeled a B&B Model 571 110F 125 PSI. I looked on the internet and found it to be an Atmospheric vacuum breaker/check valve designed to keep bacteria from entering the water system.

It looks like there had been a problem with this part in the past. Not sure if I should get a replacement from the company (if they will replace it for free) or order a brass part mfg'd by a different company for around $60. If I had to pay for a new B&B part, the cost looks to be comparable with the brass one.

Wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem and what route you took to resolve it.

Thanks
  • Well, never mind. I found the problem. I was sitting at the computer after typing my post and gave the valve a bit of a shake and a stink bug fell out. I took it over to the sink and rinsed it out and three more dead stink bugs came out. I guess the dead bodies wouldn't allow the valve to work properly. I hooked it back up and I've no leaks. Now that's just messed up!
