Back to dealer again

Purchased a new 5er this spring. Didn't get to use it until two weeks ago. First it was a possible recall on axles. Axles ok. Then the air conditioner was installed wrong. Cold air coming out the cold air return and no cold air to the vents. After the first trip out I discovered the blank tank valve leaked. What a surprise. Dealer fixed I hope. Out by myself this week and the air conditioner quits on the second day. I came back to 95 degree temps in my unit. Got it cooled down enough to sleep with Max Fans. Taking it back to dealer tomorrow. Second unit this brand with absolutely no problems with the first one. Now built by Thor. Fit and trim much better but evidently everything wasn't checked out before delivery. I suppose it will take a month to get the air repaired so I can get a few more trips in this year. Not very happy.

Keep in mind that they didn't make the air conditioner so unless its failure was caused by Thor or the dealer, it does not reflect on the manufacturer.

The trailer manufacturer selects the equipment, however.

If I buy a Ford car(for example) and it has many problems with components, I blame Ford. In fact, I suspect very little of the components were actually manufactured by Ford.

    I'm likely just confused.

May I ask politely why the rig was not checked out by yourself until your trip? The A\C problem may have been tough to find on a driveway shakedown but the blacl water drip would have been found. Even though Quicksilver is a veteran it still goes through a 48 hour shakedown before a trip.

I have a life and have other commitments to tend to. I don't always have the extra time to spend on preparing for a trip.
  • I guess I didn't check the black water valve was because I didn't think I needed to take a dump in a clean tank. They also replaced the gray water valve as it was leaking.
Take the face of the air conditioner on the ceiling off. You will see that there is a partition above it. Cold air comes out one side and return is on the other. With the deflector cover installed 180 degrees from correct position it forces cold out return and sucks through vents. After that the air conditioner worked fine the first day out. Next day it ran but didn't cool.
I can't blame the air conditioner not working on the dealer but all of the other issues should have been addressed before delivery.
  • Are you sure cold air wasn't coming out of the right place and you didn't have the vent closed to force the air out the vents? Most newer trailers have the option for the cold air to come right out of the ac unit or slide the vent closed to get the air out of the ducted vents.
  • Cold air coming out return? I can't wait to see what the issue is. I can't figure out how that can happen. Installed backwards? If you spin a squirrel cage blower backwards I don't thin the air reverses. Is it a ducted AC inside?

True, but installing it so cold air comes out of the return and not the vents is certainly on the MFG.
