Bal X-chocks vs. Deluxe chocks

Do the deluxe chocks give better performance than the x-chocks?
I had a pair of deluxe that are not bent (this is what happens when each family member has a job and two of members are missing when trailer gets hooked up and driver does not do a walk around before pulling out). I can get two x-chocks for $75 vs. one deluxe for $61.
  • Search for a post in Do It Yourself Modifications. There is a post there titled "Homemade Wheel Chocks" that are better than anything available on the market in my opinion.
  • I'm happy with my BAL X-chocks... but I don't use them for the initial chocking. I use some wedge chocks first on both sides, and once the TT is immobilized, I then slap the X-chocks on. Plus, with two long-shackle padlocks, the X-chocks function as a decent theft-deterrent, although the padlocks will fall in seconds to a set of bolt cutters.
  • I had one of each. The deluxe was heavier. But they both seemed to work very well on my 20ft TT.

When I went to a 40ft 5th with 6pt level up, they did not do much.
  • I've had both. Deluxe have a bigger footprint but don't close as small as the X-chocks. I don't really notice much difference in performance. Either will work fine if they fit between your tires.
    FWIW...Roto Chocks are the ultimate....
