Just to add the Battery Tender Plus is temp. compensated and the Jrs. aren't.

I just bought a Battery tender Plus (second one) from Costco, they are selling them for 39.99$.

RJ, the last time I went north, I spent time visiting friends. Hours of talking and arguing about football. I was utterly lost. Came away dumber than when I went in, then it was automobiles - the Maxima versus the Lexus et al.

If you read the entire blog the recommended chargers push the battery to the gassing state. I do not want my batteries off gassing in an enclosed area. Off gassing will create corrosion especially in the tight confines of a motorcycle battery box. Secondly, all of the recommended chargers require a disconnect at a specific period. I plug all (5) of my BT Jrs in and forget them until I need to use my stuff. I put switches between my boat batteries (start and deep cell) so I could use both for a boost if my electronics were to run the start battery down. Now instead of one charger on the trolling motor battery and one on the start battery I activate the switches and charge both off of one BT JR. It works great and my batteries have not used a drop of water in 3 years with 700 hours of water time.

This article is very old. at least 10+ yrs. The shumacher w/ the diehard label has been out at least 10 yrs.
My Deltrans sees 14,6 volts every time its reconnected.
I did have a shumacher fail, just quit charging.
I have 2 shumachers, one w/ the diehard label.
I have 1 Batt Tender plus.
And I have 2 of the slow charging $6 HF maintainers. They all work good for me, w/ Deltrans being my favorite.

I had a Schumacher, don't know if it was from Walmart, but it went south and took a battery with it. For some reason it started putting out only about 3 volts. I didn't realize it until I took the battery off the charger and it was toast. Thought that was odd until I checked the charger. It was only a couple years old.

IMHO the Battery Minder is the Mercedes of the lot as far as value to performance ratio. Works great even om my old AGMs

There are better units for less money. We've been using several of the Schumacher units from WalMart. They are rated here as performing better than the Battery Tender product:
