Hi,Has anyone got a good source for low cost agm batteries in Canada?

Hi Mex,If I go south I can get them for $1300. If I buy the same capacity in Canada it will be $2700.

I used to have a job that had workers in BC and Washington state. The workers in BC were a mixture of American and Canadian.It was, well, common, for the American workers to do the heavy shopping in Washington.It was not unknown for them to buy large ticket, non registered items for our Canadian co-workers. Tires, etc.

They are cheaper on the west coast real close to the border. Prices are not too far off the US ones there. Mostly just exchange. We went through this a few years ago with the little rig. Best I've seen is the Canadian Tire Nautilus Ultra Grp 31.Think these are the same as Exide Nautilus MegaCycle 200 XMC-31Currently Can$290 for their 100Ah. Have seen them on sale for Can$240 a couple of years ago. Not sure if we'll see that price again with the exchange rate though. Down in the states you can get the Duracell Grp 31 at Sam's club for US$180, but that would be Can$215 at today's exchange rates. Think these batteries are the same as the East Penn Deka Intimidator 31M with 105Ah.Canadian Tire also has an "Ultra XD Pure Lead" 31 AGMs but these are much more expensive. So I would keep an eye out for Canadian Tire sales.

Sounds like the Kanuck variety has ground-glass in it. A rude form of valve reaming I mean valve grinding compound.

Hi Phil,

I'll be using a Magnum inverter/charger that has a setting for AGM.

I may be abandoning the idea of AGM as Costco in Canada has a flooded deep cycle 12 volt jar with 115 amp-hours for $105 bucks. (divide by 0.8 for US pricing).

CDN is barely worth .75 USD.

Yet Canadian products here in the US have risen in price. Reminds me of the time a loud-mouth Texan kept bragging about the killing he was making in the "Oil Business". That was during the great crunch of 1974. That's why I charged him 700 dollars for a 200-dollar job. He got an estimate. He authorized it. He screamed. The alternative was a four-hundred dollar tow bill to the nearest alternative.

So a USA battery costs more than 125% that of the USA price?

Don ... take this for what it's worth, but regardless of what country you buy your AGM batteries in ... to be on the safe side make sure that their recommended float voltage matches the float output voltage of whatever piece of equipment you plan on using for floating them. ;)

That's advertised as an Automotive AGM, not a Deep Cycle Marine or RV AGM.

Not sure how long it will last with typical RV deep discharges.
