- mhoeferExplorerYou never never run a Benny in an enclosed space like a garage. Go full HONDA and you will never be sorry if its for camping. If its just for emergencies, and you don't mind noise, then spend $400 to $500 and be done. You get what up you pay for.
- BumpyroadExplorerbut wouldn't a lot of the extra noise be because it is an open frame unit? what about that generator with the sound proofing box around it?
and for emergency use, which a lot of threads primarily cover, a little extra noise out in the garage wouldn't be too dreadful, at least not $1500 worth of dreadful.

From Sam's Club website;
"Approximately 75 db(A) Sound Test – ISO 3744, ISO 10884 * *Extrapolated to sound pressure at 7 meters"
From the Honda website regarding the Honda 3000;
"58 dB(A) @ rated load, 49 dB(A) @ 1/4 load"
BIG difference
I agree; the the db scale is logarithmic. For instance, 58 db is much louder than 54 db. 75 db would be about as loud as a lawn mower. - BumpyroadExplorer

Bumpy-I suspect the problem with mine is the generator portion-perhaps the winding?-and that the generator portion is unable to deliver the required voltage.
OK, thanks, but a Honda with a "plastic" camshaft?
I see they state Tough resin overhead cam for durability and quietness. how many thousand of hours would it take to wear down the camshaft?
bumpy - Old___SlowExplorerPerhaps, my best desire should be to own a "TRUE HONDA' product.??

If so, this genset uses Honda's GC190 OHC budget engine. No cast iron cylinder sleeve and employs a plastic camshaft. If you take care of it, use quality lubricants, and avoid over heating, you might see the 2 yr. warranty. If considering Honda power, then I would strongly discourage the GC series engines and opt for the GX series engine. - Old___SlowExplorerWhy would I buy another K/O Chinese Genset, if I can buy the real deal Honda/Chinese genset? Something is new here. Any Ideas?

Bought one of those. Ran it a couple of times just for exercise. Has a problem starting anything over 15 amps. A/C, table saw, etc. Engine goes to knocking and shaking unless I grab the butterfly to give it more gas. Will some times trip the breaker or the engine will bog enough to die. O.K. for use during a hurricane but has trouble being hooked to the camper at home.
Just checked-that is not the same generator I purchased. I bought the 3500 that is not shown.
did yours have a Honda engine? my pressure washer does and it works great.
