I wonder about how it compared to my 3000 iSE Yamaha. My Yammy is rated at 53-60 dBA, while this is rated at 58 dBa. I'm curious if the Champion model's decibel rating is at no load, no load + econ switch, half load, or full tilt. If the 58 dBs are at full load, that would make it worth having as a backup generator.

Isn't the 3100i only 3 db less than my 3500/4000 at full load?

Not That I expect the HF generator to be wonderful but maybe we shouldn't be so quick to trash everything new. When I started on the board the only acceptable generator discussion was Red vs Blue and any thing else was trash. Back then Champion had the 3500/4000 which was inexpensive, easy starting and reliable, PLUS quieter than any other open frame in its class. The thought of even suggesting it to some that camped in the boonies away from others seemed a slap in the face of a red/ blue owner.

We saw a lot more brands back then, most proved to be junk. Champion however went from unmentionable to one of the three recommended brands. There is even a thread in the Boondocking section asking red or blue and in the end the answer turned out to be yellow. A year ago this would have been unthinkable.

I see any inexpensive inverter as a possibility of a quieter campground. Should the next guy have the HF inverter on eco while charging his battery, I'm pretty sure it'll be quieter than my 3500/4000. As for longevity, who knows. I've been using the same HF saws to do art crating for 10 years, They may not be the most precise but they get the job done.

what does this have to do with the thread title?:h

it's not a Champion nor does it have a wireless remote starter.

it's just another Chinese-made overly loud inverter generator that's not even close to the quality of Champion products.
it's only 4db quieter than the open-framed NON-inverter Champion 3500.
and you can get the much quieter Champion 2000w inverter generator for the same price.

X2 this was my thought.

64 dB for that 2500 watt job from Harbor Freight.... wonder how that's going to sound running next to me while dry camping in the forest? Too much, or just fine for the infield of Daytona while racing?

Pretty annoying if you were sitting outside, then again any generator would be. Inside it doesn't matter if it's a Honda 3000 or our 3500/4000, it's just a hum that you can hear.

Are you running a utility company??? I've got about 25 hours on the 4-1/2 year old Onan, and 82 hours on the 6 year old eu2000i. And half of those numbers is just exercising the darn things!

I got mine 12 days ago from.SuperGen, I think they are the first to offer it
So far I'm very happy, I've got over 60 hrs runtime on it

Gets a little over 4 hrs on one tank, with A/C , fridge and 20 amp battery charging from vector/BD 1093, in 101ยฐF heat

Will power my 100 amp WFCO and fridge and the coffee pot at the same time
If I want coffee pot and MW at same time I turn off the WFCO

in the morning that WFCO is pulling a lot of watts, it can pull up to 1860w on a 20 amp circuit to charge my battery bank, If they will accept the full 100 amps, normally they don't pull/accept that much charge, but the wfco startup surge will stop/stall a 2000i dead

Normally it's coffee pot first, then MW breakfast, A/C can wait until later after WFCO brings the batteries up,
So far it does everything my 3500/4000 does, I have not tested it with my Lincoln wire feed welder , the small one that runs from a 15 amp circuit, worked with 3500, should be ok with the 3000i , remote model

One important thing for me was running our large 1150 cooking watt MW, 1650w input power, without turning off everything else in the RV, that and the A/C with fridge etc..

here's a picture, mounted in my DIY storage slide where the 3500 used to set

replaced 3500w
