I think that once you learn to use your micro-convection oven you will love it. In the early 80s the oven in our gas stove failed. We were in the midst of a complete house renovation and hadn't decided what to do for a stove so we bought a micro convection oven. We never did change out or repair the old gas (propane) stove!
In 1985 we bought a new house on the waterfront--more than we could afford but it was a forced sale in a time of falling house prices so we took a chance. One the deal was done we were broke. It was a brand new spec built home with no appliances. We brought the micro-convection oven, bought a deep dish electric frying pan and a hot plate, and a used fridge from a friend in the business.
Years progressed, we had a bit more money so decided to do a small kitchen reno. We installed a propane 4 burner downdraft gas cooktop in a centre island and put in rough wiring for an electric oven in an exterior wall.
More years progressed. The micro-convction oven finally died, we bought another. The same model! A few more years and DW decided another kitchen reno was due. New granite counter top, etc etc. No, the electric wall oven did not go in. Our oven of choice is still the micro-convection. DW is once again talking a kitchen make over. This time the wall oven or something similar will be done.
We don't just do heating and instant foods. Neither of us care for the instant pre done stuff and we both like to cook using real and fresh ingredients. Using the micro-convection combination cook function does wonders for roasting.
