Converter charging at 16.3 volts

I installed a new light fixture with led bulb in my rv, after the first hour of use it exploded. Before I returned the burnt light fixture and blown bulb back to Camping World where purchased I thought I should check the polarity and voltage to the fixture. I found polarity to be correct but the voltage to be 16.3 volts. I unplugged the rv from 110 supply to find the voltage went to battery power. I'm now thinking the high converter voltage could have caused the led bulb to blow? My converter is made by System Monitors Inc who is out of business. I would like a wiring schematic to repair the current charger or advise on a replacement converter. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    My 'advise' would be to replace the converter. That voltage is destroying your batteries, if it hasn't already.

    Yes, the high voltage was the death of the bulb.
    Time to replace your converter and I would not plug back in until you've had a chance to do so. Many other items wont like the high V either!

    Looking at bestconverter site I don't see it but I'm sure they have a replacement.

    Don't know which one fits but the PD Intellipower 4655TV made my Wifco turn into the best thing I've seen but the Boondocker is a great one too. My company bought a bunch of them for the fleet vehicles and will be buying more. Ambulances, etc. They have a better warranty and just get with it on charging. Don't think there is much difference between the PDs though and they have a 14.8 version that the supervisor is looking at.

    I can just imagine how your chevy throttles back like the Powermax when just 75% up that hill :)

    Ford you just set the cruise control and takes you right to the top just like PD and IOTA.

    Yes, and I was the one who showed that PM charging profile on this forum where it drops to Float "early". Iota does the same thing except it only drops to 14.2 instead of 13.6 when it get to that 75% or whatever SOC (it depends on the charging rate when that happens of course) So that leaves the PD with CW for ordinary converters

    However I was talking about the Adjustable voltage PowerMax, which is what I have that eats Charge Wizards for breakfast. :)
