I agree higher, however.... You are going to have a hard time finding a meter sensitive enough to figure out just how much higher since you are talking like one INCH of the smaller cable.

It would be insignificant.

Very similar to asking how much better gas mileage you'd get with tires pumped to 80 PSI rather than 75 PSI.

The whole issue is in the clamp area interface. You couldn't get me to not solder it for all the Quetzales in Guatemala.

Not sure what a quetzale is or how many there are in Guatemala...BUT....what do you use to solder cable that fat? How do you get the wire hot enough to flow the solder without burning off 3" of insulation?

My little Weller won't heat anything over 14 ga and even that gets messy...I could use some advice on tools/techniques here.

I assume the question is, would the total resistance of the two lengths of copper cable have more resistance with the splice than the total of the resistance of the two cables. I don't think you could measure the difference. The most resistance would be in the contact area of the sleeve and I think it may increase if you solder it. A good crimp plus adhesive shrink tubing would give a more or less perfect connection.

I use an old-fashioned electric Soldering Iron. Takes about 10 minutes to heat up. You could wrap the insulation in a wet rag, then quench the soldered connection with the wet rag once it was done. Or, slide some heat-shrink tubing WELL UP the insulation, well away from heat. Slide it into place once everything is cool then heat to lock it down.

Definitely higher.
The # 2 wire is smaller then the 1/0.
Kind of like trying to fit 6 pounds into a five pound sack!

Unless you are talking about the connector itself, in which case would be larger then the 1/0 and would have less resistance.

What I want to do if possible and safely etc is to use 1/0 Copper cable, then swage on a copper sleeve down to #2 awg wire size, so this 1/0 cable can be used in a MS MPPT 60a CC, (least resistance possible).

#2 awg is the largest size of wire (at the connection point) the MS CC will accept, and I will also use this 1/0 wire for the battery inter-connections for the battery pack, for EQUAL battery balancing etc.
