CREE beta XMC LED CHIPS

Cree sent me a box of beta LED chips to test. I arrived in USA this afternoon and will leave after five doctor appointments tomorrow starting at 0800. Yes 5 in one day. Neurosurgeon is last. Cardiologist will tell neurosurgeon if I can withstand 3-1/2 hours of surgery.

Chips are supposed to maintain +- 3% lumen stability from 12.2 to 14.4 volts. Impressive. 179 l/w which is also impressive. These chips need no driver or resistor for 12 volt operation. 130 degree beam spread. They are silicon carbide.

I am going to do thermal tests on the 11 watt chips. I will email someone with some opinions so they can post. FYI the 3K Kelvin variety XME-E like with ALL LED chips render far less lumens per watt <34%

Also picking up beta difuser panels with one type allowing 90 percent passage of light. it's going to get interesting

Do not have internet down there. and am bailing out to come north for surgery in a couple of months. cannot even dial USA from there now. Like living in Yemen or Hindukush. These BETA items were arranged last June. CREE just blows Bridgelux and Osram into the weeds.

Gotta go sleep sleep. Saludos y salutacciones a todos.
  • Well this has MY attention.
I'm looking for an upgrade device for LEDZILLA
  • They are silicon carbide a new tech. 20 mm disc 4 cobs. Exact 5K temp.

13.1V nominal rendering 1660 lumens at 820 MA. 10.75 watts. Warning from CREE: Do not look st chips under saturated power conditions. Eye damage. I'm more interested in 77% needed heatsink. Little lumen differential between 11.8 vdc and 13.9 vdc. ends regulator RF issues. With the new tech boron 90% efficient difuser this is eyebrow raising stuff.

Front-end problems with car. I have to bail and make it back to Ensenada. acts like struts valves are seized closed. Neurosurgeon says if upcoming cardiologist stress radioneuclide and vein dcl/min goals are seen then the neurosurgeon is going to start stropping his machete. Eye surgeon says 0.0% evidence of macular degeneration. He's putting his switchblade box cutter to the wheel as well.

But this will be "it" for months. No internet at all. Zero. I will be utterly lost in LED LEGGO LAND. Tomorrow another smuggling run southbound. Hundreds and hundreds of LEDs. "Pablo Escoled..."?
  • how many milliamps and driving voltage does this new Cree draw? Are they wired 3 or 4 leds in series, or?
  • Still experimenting with the bigger LED's, eh?

    Is this the data sheet?

Mex, you can expect comments and questions from those missing your absence. Good to see you around.
    Good luck with the Dr's!

I recently got one of the competitors of ATOMIC BEAM flashlight, TAC 1200 Originally ordered the Atomic Beam but they did not ship and cancelled. so I ordered the more expensive TAC-1200.. Measured power draw at 3 watts

    Very impressive light.

Now have some Six CREE LED fog lamps to install (My original Fog lamps one broke the other Burned out) I'm almost afraid to try them.. that's a whole lot of light.

I can tell you the 1200 makes a darn good headlight for my bicycle.. Works good for changing a flat tire and finding things that fall on the floor too.. Way better than any of my other lights.
It is a CREE LED product.
