de-winterizing

Our motorhome has been in storage in Charlotte, NC for about 4 months. I winterized before we left it (pink antifreeze), but we drove our car down to Charlotte, NC after the 1st of Jan and are living in it at sons house before we head to Florida. Question is to leave antifreeze in the lines till this major freeze passes (three nights in single digits EVEN in Charlotte) or heat the motorhome inside with furnace and electric heater and clear antifreeze out of the lines now ??
  • We'll be leaving upstate NY and heading for warmer weather in 2 or 3 weeks. The day before we leave, I'll fill the fresh water tank, the water heater, and the water lines. The furnace and water heater will be on and we'll likely sleep in the coach that night. We've done this each year since we started getting out of the cold weather mid-winter, with no problems before reaching warmer weather so far. The water lines were blown out with no antifreeze added except to the drain traps, so flushing the lines is not an issue. Our furnace is ducted into the wet bays and keeps the tanks and pump from freezing.
  • I plan on using bottled water for toilet and coffee, spit bath, etc. when I get to warmer places I will put water in the fresh water tank and go from there. I figure it will only take me one day and one night sleeping to get to warmer weather.
  • We normally leave the pink antifreeze in the water lines while enroute south even though all our tanks and water lines are enclosed and heated by the LPG furnace. That way, if we ever get stranded on battery power there is one less thing to worry about.
  • If you can wait I would. You can use the potti on the way if you flush with RV antifreeze. Use bottled water for coffee and drinking. I assume there is some pink stuff in the gray tank(s).
