Yep, your Tailgater makes it easy... As long as you have a clear view of the western arc, and don't want to use one of the more advanced multi-tuner DVR receivers like the Hopper series. In other words your Tailgater would not work at all on site we're on right now, nor would it work with our Hopper anywhere. Having the choice of both arcs and the Hopper means we have never had to pick a site based on the available satellite view, and we can record multiple programs on multiple satellites at the same time. - LScamperExplorer

- RJsfishinExplorerMy definiton of fine tuning ele. is sticking a shim under which ever leg needs it! And you only have 3 choices LOL
- djousmaExplorerWith a one time investment in one of these: http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=satlooklite
If you are looking for knobs/tripods, etc go look at: http://www.tv4rv.com/sunshop/
All your fine tuning issues go away. I do use a phone app like dishpointer to make sure there are no obstructions, then just start with a compass heading and setup the dish, and connect the satlook lite. Up and operational in about 10 minutes including dish setup. - Gonzo42ExplorerI did that with mine. I have an azimuth screw and an elevation screw. I used mostly hardware I had kicking around on my workbench so didn't have to spend much. I did, however buy a tripod.
Not sure if my posting on this is still available. - Horizon170Explorer

I do recall someone posting their homemade dish mod, but I didn't find it with a couple of search tries. Here's a photo of that shows the OEM elevation fine tuning setup on our Dish 1000.4 dish that I moded with wing nuts for a no tools adjustment. It may give you some ideas for moding your dish. The 1000.4 also has a fine tuning nut/cam for the azimuth adjustment, although I rarely need to use it.
Thanks, that helps getting me started. I'll post pictures as it develops.

BTW, that bumper mount I made didn't work so good. Too much movement from walking around in the RV.
