Dometic Heat Pump Expert Needed-No A/C only heat

. . .Hello all. . .First attempt at using the A/C on our Dometic 630035.331 unit & I only got HOT air. . .Tested ( with light bulb per manual ) & found no power from the Comfort Control Center to the Solenoid Coil so got a 3109226.005 Comfort Control Center - then I had power going to the Solenoid Coil, but, still no A/C, only heat. . .Put on a 3310714.005 Solenoid Coil on the Reversing Valve & again no A/C, only heat. . .Heat pump is working but no A/C. . .Your thoughts please!!!! Do I need to replace on of the capacitors OR????? Correct answer gets a nice adult beverage. . . .Thank You for your help!!!

    You buy the NEW HP
    You buy the new 12 button tstat
    It is plug and play.
    If you want to use your 5 button you will have to spend the money to buy the 12 to 5 button control board. The NEW Penguin comes with the 12 button control board built in. You cannot buy a Penguin with NO board, they come standard with the 12 button. Doug

    . . . Doug. . . Do I need to buy either the 12 to 5 Comfort Control Center OR a new wall thermostat OR can I reuse my 5 button wall thermostat??? Do not need fancy. . .Thanks in Advance!!!

    Buy a New 15k Penguin Heat Pump. DO NOT BUY THE 12 TO 5 KIT. Just buy a NEW 12 button wall tstat. The cost is about the same as the 12 to 5 kit. The 12 button has all sorts of features like a programmable Home tstat. Doug

    . . .Good Morning. . . A couple of questions. . .With power off,I put a magnet to the reversing valve and hear it click; with power on I still only get heat - so REVERSING VALVE is bad??? What model number do I need to replace this unit; are there choices available? 13,5 & 15? Anything else I should know. . .And Thanks for the replies!!!!!!!!!

    IF you replaced the Reversing Coil and it still heats, then the Reversing VALVE is defective. The only fix is to replace the complete upper unit and also install a 12 to 5 button control board on the New Penguin HP. Doug

    Your capacitors are good as it heats and the fan blows. On that vintage units, they default to Heat when there is not power to the reversing valve. You have done everything possible other than tapping on the valve in the hopes you can help it reverse to cooling... your last resort before replacing the entire unit.
    Unfortunately it is not a simple put a new unit on the roof because the new units default to cooling when there is not any power to the reversing coil. There is a kit that you will need to make it work with your current Tstat. PM Doug Rainer for info on this kit.
