Dometic RM2804 sparking but will not fire

Do you have gas in the tank? Do you have good gas flow to the stove? Do you have 12VDC to the refer?

take the burner assembly out ,clean and make sure the orfice is open don,t make the hole bigger, sitting that long bugs like to make there home in small places. while out I,d have some one turn the propane on slow and see if you can smell the gas ,

That is a manual model, so are you pushing the button for what seems like a long time? There really is not much to go wrong with that.

Do you know what model refrigerator you have? As I recall my original fridge on my 91 fleetwood wasn't manual as indicated by Chris but a 3 way. If you know the model you might find the service manual on Chris's website http://bryantrv.com/docs.html

At any rate - you fridge probably has a manual valve which turns on/off the gas ... make sure that's turned on. There is likely a burner assembly which has a burner tube with an electronic igniter attached .. that can be removed and cleaned (probably filled with rust from the metal burner vent that runs to the roof). While it's out consider cleaning the igniter contact with some emery cloth.

The propane tank is full, and have power to the fridge. I have good propane flow to the stove and hot water heater.
I can see the igniter arcing to a metal tube. Ill pull it apart and clean it up.
this is not a manual model. The instructions inside the fridge are as follows: "1.)To start gas operation turn knob to gas position. 2.) turn gas thermostat quarter turn. 3.) press button to stop"

I follow this and all i get is spark forever.

That is a manual model- I have the same one sitting on my back porch, the reason being it doesn't need a battery to operate (just to light the first time). You have to push in the bottom button until it lights, hold it for 15 seconds after lighting. This button opens the safety valve, the thermocouple heats up and keeps it open.

Also make sure the gas thermostat knob is set at 5 or above.

Ohhhh ok I was under the impression the knob was to turn the fridge off. Thank you for the reply I will give this a try tonight

Chris Bryant, thank you for your help. You were correct. After I followed your instructions I heard the propane light. Initially there was a flame coming out of the wrong area, burning up the electrical wires. So I turned it off, removed the burner tube, and dumped out a lot of rust/debris. Then I put it all back together, followed your instructions again, and it works great now!
